Bride kidnappingalso known as bridenapping marriage by abduction or marriage by captureis a practice in which a man abducts  the woman he wishes to marry. Bride kidnapping has been practiced around the world and throughout history. It continues to occur in countries in Central Asiathe Caucasus region, and parts of Africa, and among peoples as diverse as the Hmong in Southeast Asia, the Tzeltal in Mexico, and the Romani in Europe.
Inon her way home from university, Vulkan was abducted by a man who wanted her for his wife and imprisoned in his house. Vulkan now reluctantly lives with her abductor as his wife, having been forced to give up university and any thought of a job, and is determined never to allow any sons she may have to kidnap a bride. There are an estimated 11, girls kidnapped to become brides every year in Kyrgyzstan.
In autumn semester of I, along with some of my classmates, had a wonderful opportunity to go to a study exchange in Bishkekcapital city of Kyrgyzstan for three months. It has been a very interesting and insightful exchange. Since my return I have also received many questions of how I enjoyed it, how it went and what it was like, as Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia in general is not really among the most popular and familiar tourism destinations, and people around me prior to my return did not have much insights of situation and life over there.
At first I copied some pictures and understood that this was what I liked—just to paint. After university, I continued to develop as an artist and produced even more works. At the university, they taught us to paint academically; there were a lot of rules and restrictions.
